Plans In Progress

Not much to look at yet, but I wanted to post my progress so far.

Karrick, I see you went indeed back to the truss. I fully support that choice; it takes some of the gymnastics out and let’s you (hopefully) get deeper in some of the building system / skin (you have an awful lot of it!) design.
I enjoy your basic approach to the housing, especially the dual use spect of it. I think however, you could tweak it some more and make them a bit more livable. The top floor to me works the best; clear separationand equal privacy for everyone. I could see introducing a few doors to separate not so much from the room mates, but from the stair and the possible disturbances from the house mates relaxing or coming back late in the middle floor.
The middle floor seems to be developed not fro the student, but for the external visitor: the kitchen moved up against the corridor wall turns this corridor into a simple corridor. If there were some stronger connection to that back cooridor, the corridor could be upgraded to a social space linking the different student pods.
I wouln’t want to have to reside on the ground floor. The front alcove totally lacks privacy, the location of the bath accessible only thru the other alcove turns this alcove also into second class. Being right on grade and not able to enjoy the marvelous back yard also seems to be a missed opportunity.
I would suggest to add a bit more space into each unit (widths), provide air locks in the front and rear exits in the back, duplicate the top floor layout on the bottom, and turn the kitchen to allow for more connection to the rear corridor. Imagine some large sliding walls that connect the dining counter to the corridor. Never mind.
